Terry: But there haven't been any attacks, right?
Lisa: No, not yet at least. But some things have changed. Our airports are certainly a little more careful.
Terry: That's good. The whole world has changed a lot in the last few years.
Lisa: That's for sure. I almost went to Spain in March for a holiday, but then there were train bombings!
Terry: What a tragedy that was. I sure hope there's an end in sight to this horrible problem.

★ That's for sure.
★ tragedy (n.)
★ attack (n.) 攻击
★ bombing (n.)

Americans got their first taste of ice cream in the 1700s. It was a favorite dessert of George Washington, and records reveal that the president himself purchased a machine for making it. Thomas Jefferson followed suit, having learned how to make the icy treat while in France. He was the first president to serve it at a White House state banquet.

Do you want to pass the CET?
  Did you study German?

I do not want to be criticized.
He doesn't like to study.
In the past, many students did not know the importance of English.

 Don't go there.
 Don't be so absent-minded.
说明: 构成否定祈使句只用do,不用did和does。

Do come to my birthday party.
 I did go there.
 I do miss you.

Never did I hear of such a thing.
Only when we begin our college life do we realize the importance of English.
说明: 引导此类倒装句的副词有never, seldom, rarely, little, only, so, well等。

---- Do you like Beijing? --
 ---- Yes, I do. (do用作代动词,代替like Beijing.)
He knows how to drive a car, doesn't he?
